  • Build customer relationships by offering customer service and answering RC related questions

Senior Front End Developer

With over fifty years of experience serving hobbyists world-wide, we're the leading manufacturer of everything R/C. We're headquartered in Champaign, IL home of one of the country's best engineering programs at the University of Illinois, a small-town feeling with quick access to big city amenities.

Our digital team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Front End Developer to help us modernize how we engage with, sell to and serve our customers. With over 30+ brand and e-commerce sites that reach over 40 million passionate hobbyists each year, a self-starter is wanted to jump in, collaborate and help us drive results.

In this role, you'll work across our Advertising Team and E-Commerce Division. Initiatives you'll lead will vary from building new digital experience such as a brand or campaign website to redesigning a major feature on an e-commerce site. As majority of our sites now have over 30% mobile-based traffic, experience with responsive design and mobile web best practices is a must. Being a growing digital group, professionals with leadership skills to mentor junior developers is a plus.

  • Produce HTML/CSS/JavaScript code from design documentation for integration into desktop and mobile websites
  • Develop new user-facing features and sites. Also, undertake revamping older features and websites
  • Understand cross-browser and cross-platform concepts and concerns
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of UX and visual design concepts
  • Collaborate well with back-end developers on server-side logic and integration
  • Ensure code and design quality through the execution of test plans
  • Help conduct quality assurance testing of technical projects

Video Editing Specialist

In this role you'll get to work on programs including:

  • Keep It RC: contribute to Keep It RC, our video hub on YouTube that reaches 17K+ subscribers and additional syndication across Hobbico's social channels
  • Product Launches: from RC monster trucks, drones, boats and cars - you'll be a key part of the team that helps launch new RC product and engage our base of fans with video content.
  • E-Commerce: collaborate with our digital team to transform our current and upcoming websites to provide visual content that promotes customers' love of the hobby.
  • In The Field: whether attending an industry event (indoor racing near Chicago or outdoor drone racing in Indiana) or shooting a raw performance video for a new product, you'll have ample chances to get out from behind your desk, get outside in the sun and shoot products in the field.
  • Live Video: collaborate with our social marketing manager and brand managers to create engaging, live video content on Facebook, SnapChat and other mediums.
  • And... have autonomy with your role to pitch new ideas for consideration.

What we're looking for in our next team member:

  • Experience:
    • 2-4 years of work experience shooting (studio and in the field)
    • 2-4 years of editing experience
    • Pre-production experience: planning, storyboarding, sourcing talent
    • Experience filming people and products
  • Training:
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent degree with concentration in video production required
  • Skills:
    • Required:
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
